40ft Refrigerated High Cube Container

Commercial scale

When a 20ft reefer is no longer enough, this is the next step. A 40ft high cube reefer holds roughly twice the volume with the same single refrigeration unit and the same single power connection — which is why, per pallet stored, it is substantially more economical to run.

Packing sheds. Meat and seafood processors. Large-scale horticulture. Distribution operations needing buffer cold storage. Cold chain logistics staging.

The practical considerations

Power draw is significant and almost always three-phase. Confirm your supply before you order, not after delivery.

Airflow inside a 40ft reefer depends on loading it correctly — leaving the T-bar floor channels clear and not packing hard against the rear wall. Loaded badly, the far end will not hold temperature no matter how good the unit is.

Siting needs level ground the full twelve metres and clear drainage for condensate.

Non-operating alternative

If you want the insulation but not the refrigeration — dry goods, equipment, anything that just needs a stable temperature — ask about non-operating reefers instead. Considerably cheaper and no running cost.

A 40ft refrigerated container is a serious electrical load. Have your supply confirmed before delivery day, not after.
