40ft Side Opening Shipping Container

Twelve metres of container with doors down the entire side. Reach anything inside without moving everything in front of it.

The last-pallet problem

In a standard 40ft, the pallet at the far end is eleven metres behind ten other pallets. Retrieving it means unloading and reloading the whole container. If your stock turns over, that is dead time every single day.

Side opening doors remove the problem entirely. A forklift works directly off the side at any point along the length. What was a thirty-minute shuffle becomes a ninety-second lift.

Who this is for

Distribution operations. Trade suppliers running stock from a yard. Hire companies retrieving different items daily. Farms storing long items — timber, pipe, irrigation, fencing — that simply cannot be carried in through a 2.3m end door.

Things to plan for

You need clear space along the full side for the doors to swing and for a forklift to work. A side opener parked against a fence is an expensive standard container.

Side openers are also heavier than a standard 40ft and the door frames make them slightly less rigid, so level ground under all four corners matters more, not less. Get the pad right and the doors will close easily for twenty years.

Also available in 20ft

We stock 20ft side openers as well if the 40ft is more than you need.
