For loads that defeat a box

Flat racks exist because a great deal of valuable freight will not fit through a 2.3 metre door. Machinery, transformers, boats, prefabricated sections, bundled pipe, structural steel. The rack gives you a rated deck and corner castings so the load can be handled by standard container equipment, without the constraint of walls.

Built heavier than they look

A flat rack deck is substantially stronger than a standard container floor, because the load sits directly on it rather than being spread by walls. This is also why they are popular as static working platforms and bases for equipment that would punch through ordinary flooring.

Securing the load is on you

There are lashing points along the rails, and using them properly is not optional. An unrestrained load on an open deck is a serious hazard in transit. If the rack is going on a road, make sure whoever is loading knows what they are doing.

Static uses

Plenty of our flat racks never move again. They make excellent bases for tanks, generators, pumps and workshop equipment on soft ground, and they are far cheaper than pouring a slab.
