Length is the point

A 40ft flat rack carries things that are simply long — beams, poles, bundled pipe, precast sections, milled timber, boat hulls, agricultural implements. Nothing enclosed handles these, and a standard trailer lacks the container castings that let the load move through the intermodal system.

Capacity

Payload on a 40ft flat rack is substantial, but it is not unlimited and it is not evenly distributed. Point loads concentrated in the middle of the deck are the fastest way to damage one. If you are loading something heavy and compact, tell us the weight and the footprint when you enquire so we can confirm it is appropriate.

Collapsible ends

Many 40ft racks have folding end walls, which lets them stack flat when empty and cuts return freight dramatically. If you are running racks in both directions, this matters commercially. Ask which configuration we have available.

Static platform use

As with the 20ft, a 40ft rack makes a robust permanent base for plant, tanks and modular equipment, particularly on ground that will not take a slab.
