Liquids, in the intermodal system

An ISO tank is a stainless steel vessel held inside a frame with standard corner castings, so it can be lifted, stacked and transported exactly like any other 20ft container. Capacity varies by tank. Many are insulated, and some are fitted with heating for viscous products.

Tell us the product first

This is the one category where we genuinely cannot quote sensibly without knowing what is going in. Tank suitability depends on the liquid — its corrosiveness, its temperature requirements, whether it is classified as a dangerous good, and what the tank previously carried. The wrong tank for a given product is not a compromise, it is a hazard.

So when you enquire, tell us the substance, the volume, whether it is being transported or stored, and whether it is DG classified.

Regulation

Tanks in service require periodic inspection and certification, and DG carriage brings further obligations. If your tank will be transported, its certification status matters. We will tell you what we know about a unit’s history and testing.

Static storage

Many buyers use tanks as fixed storage — water, liquid fertiliser, process fluids. Requirements are lighter but suitability still depends on the product.
