A bunded, ventilated store for chemicals held in quantity. Built so that a spill stays inside the container instead of reaching the ground.

Containment is the point

The entire purpose of this container is that when something leaks — and eventually something does — it goes into a sealed sump rather than into soil, stormwater or a waterway. A bunded floor with adequate capacity is the difference between a mess and an environmental incident with a regulator attached.

Specification

Sealed bund sized to the volume stored, with a removable grated floor so you can walk and stack above it. Chemical-resistant floor coating. Ventilation engineered to the products held. Shelving with spill trays and restraint so drums cannot move. Correct signage and placarding.

Agricultural chemicals in particular

Farm chemical stores are heavily regulated and frequently inspected, and requirements cover separation from waterways, bores, dwellings and stock. A compliant store is usually a condition of accreditation programmes as well as of law.
