40ft Container Home
Around thirty square metres. Enough for one or two bedrooms, a living area, a proper bathroom and a real kitchen — a genuine small home.
Where container homes start making real sense
At 40ft you stop compromising. There is room for separate sleeping areas, a living space that is not also the bedroom, a full bathroom and a kitchen with actual bench space. Start from a high cube shell and the finished ceiling height feels like a house rather than a caravan.
Layout drives everything
Openings determine the plan and cannot be moved afterwards. Where the door goes, which way the living area faces, where the windows catch light and cross-ventilation, where wet areas sit relative to services. We work through the layout with you before any steel is cut, and it is time well spent.
Specification
Full insulation and lining throughout. Flooring. Electrical, switchboard, lighting and outlets. Plumbing to kitchen and bathroom. Windows and doors including egress requirements. Air conditioning. Kitchen and bathroom fitout to your selections.
Approvals, again
This is a dwelling. It needs council approval, engineered footings, compliant services and, in many areas, bushfire or flood assessment. Requirements differ by council and by state. Start that conversation before you order, not after delivery.
Joining containers
Two or more 40ft units can be joined for a larger home. That is structural work requiring engineering. Ask us early if it is on your mind.
